TOURISM MINISTRY INSPECTS EYIN-EYO PARK AT IDUMOTA

Officers from the Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture have inspected the progress of work on the face-lift and upgrade of Eyin-Eyo Park in Idumota, Lagos Island.

Speaking at the site, the leader of the Inspection Team and Head of the Museum and Monuments Department in the Ministry, Mr. Olatunde Lawal, disclosed that the project was initiated to reinstate aesthetics and renew the infrastructure of the former National Arcade for Soldiers now known as the Adamu Orisa Eyo Monument.

He explained that the renovation was approved by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to make the location more attractive to visitors, tourists and Lagosians. 

Lawal said: “The Eyo Statue, the Cultural and Historical Symbol of the people and the State, erected within the Park was restored. The Eyo Statue restoration will reposition the Park to its former glory”.

In the same vein, a member of the team in charge of the project, Engr. Oluwadurotimi Sadiku, informed the inspection entourage that the Park is now an ideal place for relaxation and other social engagements, emphasising that the Project is about 97% complete and would be commissioned by Mr. Governor soon.
