LAGOS TOURISM SET TO TARGET GLOBAL AUDIENCE

The Governor Akinwunmi Ambode led administration is very keen on marketing the tourism values of Lagos State to business and leisure travellers across the globe through an initiative to be driven by the State Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture.

Mr. Steve Ayorinde, the newly appointed Commissioner for the Ministry disclosed this at a reception organised by the management and staff on Monday when he officially assumed office.

Ayorinde, the former Commissioner for Information and Strategy in the State, noted that the Ministry of Tourism and its management under his watch will work with other State institutions and agencies to deliver a top-notch economically beneficial tourism marketing strategy built on attractions and exposure of Lagos to the global tourism audience.

While imploring the staff to be focused and committed to meeting the set goals and objectives of the Ministry, he posited that the Lagos economy in 2018 will be largely driven by tourism activities laced with socio-economic values.

Earlier, in her welcome speech, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Arts and Culture, Mrs. Aramide Giwanson applauded the appointment of Mr. Ayorinde as the new Commissioner, saying that he is an experienced professional in journalism who is determined to ensure that the desire of the State government to make Lagos a preferred tourism destination in Africa is actualized.

In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mr Fola Adeyemi while introducing Ayorinde to the management staff of the Ministry, referred to him as an amiable and reliable team leader with great antecedents.

He assured the staff of the Ministry that renewed strength and vigour will be provided by the new leadership to enhance the creative industry and tourism value-chain for productivity and enhanced economic value.
